Repairing the Canvas: Advanced Collagen Induction for Smoother Skin
Stretch marks, clinically termed Striae Distensae, are essentially dermal scars resulting from rapid skin stretching. They are ubiquitous in the Indian population, commonly appearing during puberty, rapid weight fluctuations, or post-pregnancy. Initially appearing as red or purple lines (Striae Rubra) due to underlying blood vessels, they eventually fade to silvery-white (Striae Alba). For patients with melanin-rich skin, these marks can also experience Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, making them darker and more noticeable. At Clinic7, we understand that while "tiger stripes" are natural, you have the option to fade them for a smoother, more uniform skin texture.
Collagen and Elastin fiber
Your skin is supported by a mesh of collagen and elastin fibers in the Dermis (the middle layer). When the body expands faster than the skin can grow—such as during pregnancy or muscle building—this supportive mesh ruptures.
Think of it like an overstretched rubber band that develops micro-tears. The epidermis (top layer) remains intact, but the foundation beneath collapses. As the body heals these deep tears, it lays down new collagen in a disorganized, parallel pattern rather than the normal basket-weave pattern. This scar tissue lacks the texture and elasticity of normal skin, resulting in the depressed, slightly wrinkled appearance of a stretch mark.

The Clinic 7 Clinical Advantage
Topical oils and cocoa butter affect only the surface hydration; they cannot penetrate deep enough to stitch the torn dermis back together. Clinical intervention is required to physically rebuild the skin's foundation.
Controlled Micro-Injury: We use Microneedling or Fractional Lasers to create microscopic channels in the scar tissue. This signals the body's repair mechanism to "fill in" the gaps with fresh, organized collagen.
Vascular Targeting: For red stretch marks (Striae Rubra), we utilize vascular lasers to collapse the overactive blood vessels, neutralizing the angry red or purple color.
Melanin-Safe Protocols: Treating scars on Indian skin requires caution to avoid burns. We use Radiofrequency (MNRF) and specific laser wavelengths that bypass the surface pigment to heat the deep dermis safely, minimizing the risk of darkening the surrounding skin
FAQs
Can stretch marks be completely removed?
While total removal is rare, we can significantly improve the appearance. Treatments can fade the color and blend the texture by 50-80%, making the marks barely visible to the naked eye.
Do creams or oils work?
They are excellent for keeping skin hydrated and pliable to prevent marks, but once the tear occurs, topical products cannot repair the deep dermal damage.
Is it better to treat them when they are red or white?
Treating them when they are red (Striae Rubra) is most effective because the tissue is still metabolically active. Older white marks (Striae Alba) are more stubborn but still respond well to energy-based remodeling.
Is the treatment painful?
We apply a strong prescription numbing cream before the procedure. Most patients report feeling only a prickly heat sensation or mild vibration during the treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Collagen rebuilding is a slow process. We typically recommend a protocol of 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to allow the skin ample time to regenerate between treatments.
